Wine Festival Weekend
Here we are on a rainy Friday pre-winefest. The downpour is reminiscent of the 2005 debacle, however the skies are “supposed” to clear for the festivites tomorrow. The Whale is open and the island is starting to come to life. I’ve been busy ordering new products to fill up 18 Broad and sell through our site www.whitewhale.com. Stop in or check it out when you have a chance. Countdown to Figawi is 8 days!
Take care everyone and see you all soon-er or later

Real Quick
Hey all,
Checking in here on a rainy Thrusday night. The island is thorougly soaked! I’ve posted a few classified ads for help this summer. Sadly, we won’t have Alexis back this summer, last I checked she will be moving out west - to Idaho I think - and we wish her the best. You will be missed. Also, Jessalyn moved to South Carolina to take a nursing job. She too, will be missed. So unless I want to work 84 hr weeks, I best find some help. Obviously I’d like to hire people I know, so if any of you know someone who will be out here for the summer and looking for work, send them my way. Even if it is only part-time. Tell them to check out www.whitewhale.com to see if it is something that would interest them! Much appreciated.
Until next time,
Go Mets!

RMG Paddleboard Tourney a Success
April 3. 2007.
I’m happy to report the RMG Paddleboard tournament was a success. Friday night, tournament chairmen Matt Sanford and Brian Fogerty held a meet and greet out at the courts where players got to practice a little bit while enjoying some pizza from Pi and a beer from Cisco. I found out that I would be playing around 10:40 am the following day. I’ve never played Paddle before, so I was a true beginner, and let me tell you it showed the next day. The tournament was going to be run in a round robin format and games were won by whichever team reached 8 games first. I lost my first game 3-8, but went on two win my next 2 games 8-3 and 8-4 (this was in large part due to the play of my partners!)
The White Whale was happy to donate four $100 gift certificates and hats to both the top two male and female performers. The winners were Dalton Frazier, Allan Bell,Sarah Maneikis, and Margaretta Andrews. Congrats guys!
The after party was held at the Starlight Theater. The staff there put out a really great buffet spread and the bar was open for the first hour or so. After a short awards ceremony, Matt got into the auction where everything from tennis lessons to Red Sox tickets were being bought with all the proceeds going to the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. Thanks to everyone who opened up their wallets for such a great cause. Being a coach myself over at the club, I saw every day how important it is to the community. Overall, we raised over $4000 for the club! It was a phenomenal event - and one which The White Whale will be participating in for years to come.
We’re into April now and counting down the days to a full time opening. As always, if you find any good pictures of the Whale gear send em my way bill@whitewhale.com so I can post them in the photo gallery at www.whitewhale.com.
Also, I’ll be looking for help in the store this summer if any of you know someone who will be on island for the summer.
Until next time, enjoy the Easter Holiday, The Masters, and the new Modest Mouse album.
Also, big congratulations to my old roommate from Loyola Captain Tim Miller as he welcomed his first child this week! Stay safe Tim.
Later on,
Bill
